Corduroy never fail to enchant from it quiet elegant setting and the attentive service to the innovative cuisine. Amazing soft-shell crabs, big eye tuna and smoked salmon. I have been to this restaurant several times and have never been disappointed.
The scallops and the black sea bass were exceptional and the desserts were other worldly. This is my favorite restaurant in D.
We had a fantastic night at Corduroy. The food was outstanding and the service was excellent. We started with an excellent glass of white burgundy suggested by the sommelier and then had a great red burgundy which was served at the proper temperature not warm like in most DC restaurants. We both had a special tomato salad which included peeled cherry tomatoes as well as locally grown tomatoes.
Its mains, we both had delicious soft shell crabs, pan sautéed and served over greens. We asked for a relaxed timing of our courses and the waiter was more than willing to wait until we were ready to put in the orders. Overall, this was a tremendous evening which we totally intend to repeat in the not too distant future.
The wine list is incomparable. The values on hard to find and properly aged French wine would be enough to make this a destination Fresh, seasonal, perfectly prepared with a point of view and no unnecessary frills or cliches. Best restaurante in DC. Excellent old world service. New world Excellent food. Overall a lovely experience. Perfect- great service and food, elegant restrained decor, low noise level. I had the Chef's tasting menu.
Unfortunately, almost every dish was so over salted, that barely any other flavors came through. We had a lovely time. Each dish was excellent. The drink selection was good and the cocktail I chose was marvelous. Tables not too close together. Sound level was such that we could have a pleasant conversation without any trouble.
Took a shot during a busy conference, glad we did. I got the soft-shell crab, and for this Maryland based boy they were simply outstanding. Oysters on the half shell were fresh and unique. I also had the specialty gin and tonic Our waiter was attentive and on point. When I am back in the area I will return. Once again, I enjoyed creative, garden fresh greens, perfectly seared tuna fish with tasty rice and seaweed accompaniment. The wine pairing was exquisite, as was the shared dessert of the freshest blueberry pie with a strawberry sorbet iced-popsicle.
I will return to Corduroy as often as possible and certainly when my friend, who shares the same foodie sentiments as I do, is in town! I left there hungry!!! Had the 5 course meal. The food was great but the portions were extremely small.
Maybe Corduroy should base portions on the size of the person? This is a fantastic gem. The food was outstanding. We ordered several different dishes and each was beyond expectations. We ate upstairs and the noise level was very low. Good place for conversation. Service as also fantastic. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable and very prompt and attentive when needed.
An all round great place for dinner. Great soft shell crab. Sea bass was also excellent. Michael took good care of us. The menu was varied, and the food was well prepared and seasoned.
The front room was quiet, but the larger back room was a bit noisier. Service was very good, and prices were appropriate for restaurants of comparable quality in the area. We would definitely return if we lived in the area. Terrific ambience - quiet, easy to talk, totally pleasant. Food and service were excellent. Great service and delicious meals! We did not experience the same level of service we are used to from Corduroy or that we would expect from a restaurant of this class.
They forgot to put the order in I guess? She did not get her meal until everyone else was done eating and only after two prompts. I did not heart anyone apologize, though after the second prompt, they brought her a taster of soup.
I frankly had not expected to be charged for her meal, but we were. I will not be returning to Corduroy. Kaufman 14 Wale Corduroy Charcoal. Kaufman 21 Wale Corduroy Camel.
